Kairi couldn't believe it. After she had dropped Namine home she decided to go and see Riku about their whole pretend dating thing, find out what had happened to Axel and see if Sora was there so she could say sorry. But as soon as she stood in the dorrway the brunnette had pushed past her, grasping another girls hand. Was she dating him? Sora shoved kairi to the side, making her bump violently into the door frame. She found her tears welling up in her blue eyes and started crying at the sharp pain in her side and the emotional pain of someone disliking her so much. Riku, Roxas and Axel ran over to her to comfort her, but she pushed them away harshly, taking her anger out of them which was wrong. But she didn't care. "ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS SAY SORRY!" She screamed, making them all wince away slightly. She gave one last sniff and ran away, muttering about the park. And here she was now. Sitting on the rusty swings in the middle of the park. Her feet scuffling on the groud as she swang, she felt another cold tear drop fall from her delicate nose and onto the woodchips below her. All she did was follow Riku's advice and stay away from him, but hadn't Riku become friends with him? Wasn't he the one dancing around and singing with them? Kairi suddenly felt immense anger toward the silver haired teen and let out a low growl. But she still sat there, wallowing in her sadness and feeling sorry for herself. Pathetic really. Suddenly, she heard footsteps coming toward the swings. But she didnt bother looking up, it was probably just one of the little kids from around the area coming to play. She sighed as the figure hopped onto the swing. It was silent for a while, the person wasn't swinging on the swing, just sitting there doing nothing. She slowly turned her head alittle to the side and saw black converse trainers shuffling around on the woodchipped floor. But it wasn't until she heard a smooth voice mumble something that she instantly knew who it was. "Look, about earlier...I'm sorry. I know you never meant to be mean but I was really highly strung this morning and..." But Kairi was too angry to accept apologys. "You thought that you would take it out on me. Right?" She growled, harshly jumping off of the swing, throwing it aside in rage. Sora stared up at her with shocked electric blue orbs. "N-no... I-its just that-" Kairi looked down on him stuttering like he was. He wasnt really sorry, was he? "I don't care! You really think that after all that you put me through just now, that you can just barge over to me, say sorry and everything will be alright?!" She was practically screaming now and passers by were backing away warily. But Soras shocked face suddenly hardened and his face turned into a scowl. "Well, I'm so sorry! Who was the one who ran away from me this morning just because of who I am?! Who didn't talk to me all day because of who I am? I got new friends today who care for me FOR ME! not for the clothes I wear, or the money I have or how big my house is. And do you know what?! This may be one of the happiest times of my life and I dont want some STUPID, HIGH CLASS GIRL RUINING IT!!!" His voice faltered a bit and he slumped back down on the hard black surface of the swing. Kairi suddenly didnt feel angry anymore, she didnt feel angry, she didnt feel sorry for herself, She felt ashamed and upset. Her face softened and her clenched fists relaxed. "S-sora, I didn't know! I'm so S-sorry for-" But she was interupted by sniffling. Sora had his face down, his brown spikes covered his watering eyes and his hands quickly swiped away any tears that ran down his nose. "Yeah, well no one ever knows do they? Not until someone gets hurt." His voice was cracking with every syllable and Kairi could hardly bear it. She slowly walked over and knelt right in front of him so that she could see his damp face. Sora quickly snatched his head away, but Kairi quickly cupped his chin and turned his face to face her. "I am sorry. I never meant to hurt you okay? You don't have to be sorry. Now lets forget about this whole thing shall we? And be friends like we should've done in the first place!" She giggled and saw a faint smile on the others face. Kairi honestly couldnt say how happy it made her feel to see Sora smiling and finally trusting her. Kairi hadn't talked to the boy since that morning and most of those words were cruel, but as much as she tried to deny it, she had feelings for the boy, not a crush or love, but a sibling kind of love and from that the moment all she wanted to do was be a good sister to him, to protect him from bullies and anything else that could harm him because seeing him hurt made her hurt aswell and she couldnt bear it. After a while of chatting and laughing at how stupid they both were for ignoring each other, they saw a familiar bunch of teens coming up the woodchip path of the playground, muttering amoung themselves until they reached the two at the swings, thats when they became deadly silent.
"So..." Axel started in hope of getting answers they all longed. "So...what" Smiled Kairi at the four before hopping off the swing. "Look, no need to worry everything that was unsorted is now sorted-" She glanced at Sora with a reassuring smile, to which he returned happily. "- So lets just forget about this whole thing shall we?" She looked at the boys as they raised eyebrows curiously but nodding all the same, as did the girl. "Oh! Someone new to the gang! I'm Kairi and you are..?" "I'm Lauren, Soras sister pleased to meetcha!" She smiled the charming Strife smile, offering a small pale hand to which Kairi took and shook happily. "Well Lauren, it's nice to have another girl around here! It gets so annoying when these lot talk about...well boy stuff" They giggled together. Axel and Riku joined the chat with the two girls and Roxas sat next to Sora on the swing. "You okay now then?" Sora looked into his cousins blue eyes and nodded with a wide smile.

                                                        ***

The rest of the evening went smoothly and everyone had fun at Rikus house listening to music and making absolute fools of themselves with ridiculous dancing. Everyone left one by one. First Kairi who left giving hugs to everyone, then Axel who got a phonecall from home saying to come home and gave everyone a nod before leaving and then it was Sora and Lauren's turn to go home after recieving a phonecall from mother dearest. "Okay, Lauren lets go, Mom wants us home and she says if were not home by 7, then the dinners going in the bi-" But before he could finish, Lauren had grabbed his arm and rushed them out, quickly spiling goodbyes to Roxas and Riku. "She always gets...like this when there's...food involved!" Sora laughed between tugs at his arm form his sister. Riku and Roxas laughed and waved at the two before Sora was dragged through the front door faster than you could say ' Banana cake'.

Cloud sat at the dining room table with his Mom. Very few condiments were set around the table and the was hardly any food on the plate in front of him. A dry chicken thigh sat limply on the corner of the plate, accompanied with plain damp pasta. Sora and Lauren werent home yet and his Mother wouldn't start without them. 'Come on Sora! I am so hungry right now and that stupid chicken leg is drying out even more than before we started!' Then as if Sora had read Clouds mind, the two youths rushed in and sat at the table. "Hey honeys!" Cried their Mom, hugging and kissing them both in greeting. "Hey Mom! Whats for dinner?" Asked Lauren eagerly. "Well, if you sit down and look at your plate you might know!" Giggled their mom. Lauren smiled sheepily and sat down beside Cloud. "Hey Cloud! How are you?" Lauren smiled cheesily at him and looked at him with blue eyes, innocence staring him right in the face. She didnt know about the inccident that day as she found it un-polite to ask Axel why he had a swollen lip, black eye and many cuts and bruises along his body. Cloud looked at her with sharp blue eyes that resembled Sora's to a T and muttered; "Fine thank you." in the warmest voice he could muster. Hey, he wasnt angry with her right? "Cool! Our day was awesome wasnt it Sora?" Sora looked down at his pasta gravely before grunting in reply, he didnt want to talke to his older brother as it would just end up in a fight. Lauren arched a curved eyebrow in question before continuing. "Yeah..well we met loads of cool people today mom! There was Riku and Axel and Kairi and theyre all our friends! I havent had that many friends since...forever!" Lauren giggled to no one inparticular before digging into her small meal. Sora frowned to his chicken. It was saddening to hear his sister say that she had made only three friends and that they were the most friends she had ever had. Cloud looked at his younger brother in question as if to ask if they were his friends aswell, but of course, Sora didnt dare to look his brother in the eye for the days previous events.

                                                        ***

After an extatic mother congratulated them on their new found friends, Sora and Lauren decided to go to bed early. Lauren's reason being that she was actually tired and Sora's excuse was he didnt want to be in the same room as is older brother and his murderous eyes (although he didnt tell anyone else that).
The two crept into their small, yet cosy room and turned the bedside lamp on. "Im gonna go get changed, 'Kay?" Lauren murmered to her brother before getting a nod from him. As Lauren went to the bathroom to get changed, Sora got changed there before she came back. As he slipped his pajama bottoms on, he padded over to the bedside CD player and placed a My Chemical Romance CD in. He turned it to a particular song before laying in his bed with an arm behind his head and a thoughtful look toward the ceiling. Disenchanted started and Sora thought, like he had done so many times about that song, how it really corresponded to his life. He was once happy, go lucky and then it was all wiped away like it was nothing, like he was nothing.

If im so wrong,

how can you listen all night long?

What will it matter,

after im gone?

because you never learned a goddamned thing.

You're just a sad song,

with nothing to say

about a life-long,

wait for a hospital stay,

and if you think that I'm wrong,

this never meant nothing to you.

Sora thought about his Dad and felt a small tear trickle down his cheek. How everything went wrong from just the mistake of one person. One persons stupidity. One persons selfishness. And he was there to see it all. Soras cheek was wet now, but he didnt care, they were tears for his father and they would never stop running. But now things were getting better, he was getting better. He had friends. He was happy, Lauren was happy. It was all changing. But it still didnt change anything that had happened in the past. Sora turned around on his side as he heard the song softly come to an end.

This never meant nothing to you....

at all...

at all...

at all...

~ "DADDY!" ~
